Learn about the benefits and types of dryland cover crops from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. June 3 at the Southwestern Colorado Research Center, 16898 Road Z, Yellow Jacket. The event is free.
Using cover crops on fallow fields helps the soil retain moisture, prevents erosion, fends off weeds and adds nitrogen and organic matter. Cover crops also are ideal for organic farm operations because they control weeds without herbicides and add organic matter and nitrogen without fertilizers.
There will be a field tour, presentations and lunch. The event is free, RSVP to (970) 562-4255 is requested.
