The Empire Electric Association board needs a scientific member.
One of the best things about living in Montezuma County is EEA, the electric cooperative. It is locally owned by the user/members, governed by board members from down your road and hires Montezuma County residents (neighbors and friends).
There is no dependence on the government or out-of-state corporations to distribute electricity here. It is a buy-local outfit. Members are returned the profits the co-op makes, not some absentee holding company or stock exchange fat cats. It is the equivalent of a farmer’s market for distribution and customer service of electricity.
EEA has maintained a culture of safety and customer service. The membership chooses leaders that are competent, can talk with the community, continue the EEA culture and provide future vision and direction.
I urge you to vote for Eric Lindgren of McElmo Canyon. I have known Eric to be a great problem solver, a responsible grower, good father and hard worker. His skills will help to keep the lights on at a reasonable cost. He is most qualified to evaluate and add renewable power opportunities that make sense to the co-op, with his strong science background.
As new renewable electric generation options becomes available, America’s power grid will change substantially. Eric will be of huge value in adding this power to EEA. He is all about sustainability and value. His family farm has long been growing produce and the best lamb in the Four Corners, featured at many local restaurants.
