Since 1954, Colorado farm and ranch women have been recognized for their contributions to production agriculture and rural lifestyle through induction into the Colorado Master Farm Homemakers Guild.
To be eligible for nomination, a woman must be actively involved in agriculture or retired from a farm or ranch livelihood providing at least 51 percent of the family income. Colorado is one of five states participating in the National Master Farm Homemaker program. Honorees are selected on the basis of leadership, family life and community involvement.
Nominations must be submitted by a bona fide organization (including governing boards, school or church classes, and other recognized groups.) A nominee does not have to be a member of the group submitting her name. One winner can be selected for each of nine districts in Colorado.
The Guild seeks nominations from every area of the state to reflect Colorado's diverse agricultural industry. Deadline for nominations is July 15.
In addition to the Colorado Master Farm Homemakers Guild, award sponsors include the Colorado Cattlemen's Association, Colorado Farm Bureau, Farm Credit of Southern Colorado and the Colorado Potato Administrative Committee; additional support is provided by the Colorado CattleWomen, Colorado State Grange and CSU Extension.
