On April 9, the Journal ran a letter from the High Desert Vegetarians & Vegans (“Less meat means a better you and Earth”) in which they lectured we meat eaters on our carbon footprint.
They also had a vegetarian covered dish dinner at the St. Barnabas Church on April 22. Since they are carbon footprint conscious, I assumed that all would drive electric vehicles.
On the evening of April 22, I saw one hybrid vehicle in the church parking areas. All the vegetarians and vegans seemed to have forgotten their carbon-friendly cars.
You guys need to walk the talk.
It was also alluded to that plant-based protein is a healthy alternative to meat protein. The absolute fact is that red meat provides all of the essential amino acids and plants do not.
Researchers at Carnegie Mellon say that fruit, vegetables, dairy and seafood are more harmful to the environment than red meat. They explain how so-called healthy foods require greater amounts of resources and greenhouse emissions than red meat per calorie. Growing, processing, transportation, sales, service, storage, energy, water and related greenhouse emissions negatively effect the environment more than cows.
The vegetarians and vegans can eat whatever they want and we meat eaters don’t have any problem with their choice. The only thing that we meat eaters would desire is that you plant eaters mind your own business and stop the lectures – or maybe do a little homework first.
