Main Street traffic was rerouted for about 90 minutes Tuesday afternoon after a gas line snapped at the Holiday Inn Express.
No injuries were reported, and the hotel was not evacuated.
The break occurred shortly before 3 p.m. while a construction crew was removing concrete from the hotel's driveway, according to Lt. Andy Brock with the Cortez Police Department.
Atmos Energy was quickly called to the scene and pinched off the gas line to make repairs.
Main Street was closed to traffic from 3 to 4:30 p.m. between Sligo Street and the intersection of highways 160 and 145. Vehicles were directed to detours by police and sheriff's deputies.
"It all went very smoothly," Brock said.
