The Pueblo to Pueblo Run and Bike will take place from 7 to 11 a.m. Saturday, at Cortez Cultural Center, 25 N. Market St. This is the first major race event of the year in the Four Corners with three courses: a 5K Fun Run, a half marathon, and a 29-mile bike ride.
Hand silk-screened T-shirts and swag will be handed out to all pre-registrants. Women’s and men’s first, second and third place prizes will be awarded for each course.
The Half Marathon route runs over gently rolling Lebanon Road with scenic views of the La Platas, Mesa Verde and Sleeping Ute, gradually dropping from 7,100 feet at the Anasazi Heritage Center to 6,200 feet at the Cortez Cultural Center.
The 5K route passes through historic Montezuma Avenue and around Parque de Vida, and is relatively flat.
The 29 mile ride stays on paved highways and forms a loop from Cortez to the Anasazi Heritage Center and back, rising and descending 934 feet.
Race proceeds benefit programming at the Cortez Cultural Center, a nonprofit that promotes the arts, cultural diversity and natural environment of the Four Corners.
