The Opioid Memorial Wall will be on display from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday at Durango Public Library, 1900 E. Third Ave.
As part of the Lift the Label Campaign, the wall addresses the stigma of addiction and offers education, training and personal stories of survival.
The wall is 34-feet long and is constructed of 4,200 pill bottles. Each pill bottle represents 10 Americans lost to heroin and prescription opioid overdoses in 2016. Opioids killed more than 42,000 people in the U.S. in 2016.
People are able to write on the back of the wall to remember a loved one who has struggled with or lost their life to opioid addiction.
Speakers will address emergency opioid reversal from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Jessica Eaddy will conduct a Naloxone (Narcan) training at noon. Speakers Dr. Dan Caplin and Jennifer Miller from CATS will give a presentation from 1 to 1:30 p.m. Attendees will also have the opportunity to hear stories from survivors about their journey of recovery from 11 a.m. to noon and from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Free lunch catered by Zia Taqueria will be available, first-come, first-served.
