The city of Cortez has announced Cleanup Week will take place May 6-10, for curbside pickup.
A dropoff day will be 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 11, at Parque de Vida parking lot on North Mildred.
Items left at the curb will be picked up on the same day as regular trash pickup. Household waste should be put in the regular polycart. Loose items should be placed in a container. Yard waste must be bagged. Do not place items in the alley. Large metal items and large branches should be taken to the drop off location on May 11.
RestrictionsItems that will not be accepted at the drop-off location include tires and tree stumps. To dispose of tires, contact 4-States, Big-O or Walmart.
Items that will not be accepted curbside or at the dropoff location include:
Unbagged yard waste, air conditioners, asbestos, barrels with liquid, chemicals, freezers, refrigerators, appliances with freon, hazardous waste, oil, paint and tires.Contractor waste will not be accepted curbside or at the dropoff location.For electronics and electronic waste, call the Montezuma County Landfill at 565-9858 for pricing.Any elderly or disabled city resident in need of assistance getting items to the curb for pickup can call 565-7320 before May 1 to be put on the list.
