The music lineup for the Dolores River Festival June 1 has been released.
Announced performers so far include:
The Afrobeatniks, who draw their inspiration from West African, Brazilian, Afro-Cuban, and Latin Jazz music.
Imagine lots of world rhythms morphing into this dance-inducing groove with funk, jazz, reggae, acoustic drumming and rock and roll to round out the experience. They just released their new album, “Wontanara!”
Elder Grown, are made up of locals from Dolores and Durango. Imagine Motown meeting the Red Hot Chili Peppers, then adding some Pink Floyd, Maceo Parker, and finishing with some Rage Against the Machine. Elder Grown uses the freedom of improvisational jams as their foundation to create their captivating, soul-inspired sound.
Garrett T. Capps will also perform. Capps is a San Antonio-based country musician unafraid to let other influences creep into his tunes. His last full-length release, “Y Los Lonely Hipsters”, has garnered a cult following and even landed one of its songs (Born in San Antone) a prime spot in the Season 3 opening scene of Showtime’s hit series “Billions.” His ambitious new “space country” solo LP, “In the Shadows (again)” was released on the newly established Shotgun House Records.
Funk rockers Diggin Dirt will also be at the festival. From afrobeat to reggae and rock, this band is influenced by funk heavy hitters such as James Brown, Funkadelic, Bootsy Collins and Sly and the Family Stone as well as reggae bands like Steel Pulse and modern funk like Orgone.
