The Colorado Plant Society will host a presentation about osha, a medicinal plant found in the San Juan National Forest, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the Lyceum Room of the Center of Southwest Studies at Fort Lewis College.
Emily Swindell will discuss a habitat suitability assessment conducted to determine areas suitable for harvesting osha. The assessment was completed as a part of the geographic information system certificate program offered at Fort Lewis College with the help of forester Gretchen Fitzgerald and the Mountain Studies Institute.
Swindell has been studying ecology, geology and GIS at FLC and is prepared to graduate in April.
“The Botanical Illustration” exhibit will be open for viewing at 6 p.m. before the meeting.
