Teen birth rates across the state have fallen dramatically in the last decade. However, the rate of sexually transmitted disease is on the rise. State data show fewer teens are using condoms.
The use of long-acting reversible contraception, such as a hormonal implant, is credited in part with the reduction in teen birth rates. However, these forms of contraception cannot provide protection against sexually transmitted disease.
