Western Stars Weekend
The Colorado Chapter of the Western Music Association will hold a concert on Saturday, April 13, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Montezuma-Cortez High School Auditorium. "Miss Devon and the Outlaw" is made up of Devon Dawson and Jessie Robertson. Dawson is a Western-swing star who sang as "Jessie the Cowgirl" on the Disney CD of Toy Story. Kristyn Harris, 18, loves singing and playing multiple string instruments. Last, but not least, is Janet McBride, known as "Queen of the Yodelers." Tickets are $10 at the door, with youth 12 and under free.
On Sunday, April 14, there will be a free western yodeling-music workshop for ages 4-21 at the Baptist Chapel at 1509 N. Dolores Road near Cortez.
There will be a potluck at 6 p.m. Monday, April 15, and a concert at 7 p.m. at the Southwest Cowboy Church, one mile west of Highway 491 on County Road S. A love offering will be taken.
Literacy carnival, book fair
Mancos Daisy Troop 24652, along with other local Daisy, Brownie and Girl Scout Troops and volunteers, is hosting a Literacy Carnival at the Mancos Public Library located at 211 W. First St., on Monday, April 15, from 6 to 7:30 p.m.. There will be booths, books, games, food, prizes and more. Donations to Mancos Daisy Troop 24652 are gladly accepted. A bake sale will also be available.

Republican Women's Club gun-rights speaker
The Republican Women's Club of Montezuma County will sponsor a visit by Larry Pratt, executive director of Gun Owners of America for more than 30 years.
GOA is a national organization dedicated to Second Amendment rights. According to a press release, it has more than 300,000 members and "lobbies for the pro-gun position in Washington, D.C. and is involved in firearm issues in the states. GOA's work includes providing legal assistance to those involved in lawsuits with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms, the federal firearms law enforcement agency."
Pratt's program will begin at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 16, at the Lewis-Arriola Community Center, 21176 Road S. Pratt will be speaking on "The Second Amendment and the Sanctity of the Right to Keep and Bear Arms."

SBDC "Marketing for Smarties"
The Small Business Development Center at Fort Lewis College is offering a "Marketing for Smarties" class at Durango Space from 1 to 5 p.m. April 16, May 2 and May 16. The fee is $199. Register by (970) 247-7009; e-mailing [email protected]; or online at https://www.coloradosbdc.org/.
A "Starting Your Business" workshop also will be held at the Durango Public Library from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, April 18. Walk-ins are welcome, and the fee is $25.
Program on Trail Canyon
The Montezuma County Historical Society will sponsor a program featuring "Trail Canyon, 6 Miles long and 10,000 years deep," by authors Howard "Bud" Poe and Ann Butler. Within its length, the Canyon has stories to tell of every wave of humanity that passed through Montezuma County.
The presentation will take place on Wednesday, April 17, at 7 p.m., in Hampton Hall of the United Methodist Church, 515 N. Park St., Cortez, and will include a book signing and sale.

Joint band concert

Free FireWise presentation
The Four Corners Builders Association invites the public to a free program by Rebecca Samulski of Firewise of Southwest Colorado on Tuesday, April 23, beginning at 7 p.m.. Samulski will provide insight on creating an environment to protect a home from showering embers during wildfires. The program will be an introduction to proper sight design, construction, landscaping and maintenance for homes in wildfire-prone areas.

Dairy Goat Information Day
The Four Corners Dairy Goat Breeders will hold a dairy goat information day on Saturday, May 18 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 23161 Rd. G.2 in Cortez.
Ask questions about raising dairy goats. See animals and get advice and demonstrations on care and maintenance. Multiple breeds will be represented. Some will be available for sale. Some equipment may be available for sale.

Kaleidoscope continues activities
Gentle yoga basics with Keneen is at 9 a.m. to 10:15. Yoga all levels with Keneen is at 10:30 a.m. to noon. The first class is free and drop ins are $12 and sign-in is encouraged. Register online at www.YogiKeneenDC.com.

Indoor flea market ongoing event
The Mancos Flea Market is every Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Old Hardware Store, 192 S. Main, across the bridge and just past The Absolute Bakery. Teen writing group meets on Wednesdays
Local writer Suzanne Strazza in partnership with the Mancos Public Library, will be leading a writer's group for teens ages 13-19. This group will meet at the Mancos Public Library, located at 211 W. First St., every Wednesday from 5:15 to 6:15 p.m. No prior writing experience is needed. Teen Computer Club at Mancos library
The first Wednesday of each month at 5 to 6:30 p.m. teens will meet in the Community Meeting Room at the Mancos Public Library to work on various computer projects. All meetings will have hands on experience with digital devices, disassemble, build, etc. At times we will have regional computer geeks visit.
