Mancos group steps up work on rare Cranston Press

Matt Neff is a University of Pennsylvania instructor who is visiting Mancos this month to work on restoring the a rare Cranston Press, which is housed in the former Mancos Times-Tribune building. Here, he turns the press by hand. The press was traditionally operated with steam power.
One of just a handful still left in the nation, the 8-foot-tall Cranston Press produced full-size newspaper spreads and traditionally was powered by steam.
The Cranston Press has been in the Mancos Times-Tribune building since 1910.
