Mancos, Dolores and Dove Creek began the track and field season last Saturday at the Delta Invitational.
Dove creek recorded a sixth-place finish on the girls side with 52 points, edging Dolores' 51. Mancos was 12th with eight points and finished seventh on the boys side with 35. Dolores placed ninth with 26.
For Dove Creek, Corissa Guynes won the girls 100- and -300-meter hurdles at 17 seconds, 47 tenths of a second and 50.22. Shelbie Knuckles was the runner-up in the 100-hurdles (18.52).
Madison Young was third and fifth in the shot put (30-03.25) and discus (87-09).
Cassie Lard paced the Dolores Lady Bears, winning the triple jump at 32-10. Teammate Mindy McCracken was just behind Lard in second at 31-05.75. Lard also placed fifth in the 200-meter dash in 28.56.
Michelle Kline was third-place in the 400 at 1:05.
Moki Youngquist was runner-up in the boys 110-hurdles for Dolores at a time of 16.65.
Mancos' Conner Jankowski raced to a fifth-place time of 25.05 in the boys 200, while Ro Paschal was fourth in the 800 (2:22.88).
Justin Burton and Asa Kearns were fifth and sixth in the 3,200 at times of 12:19.70 and 12:37.66, respectively.
Dove Creek and Dolores will compete Saturday morning at the Mickey Dunn Invitational in Grand Junction.
Mancos will head south to Farmington, N.M., to participate in the Piedra Vista Invitational at 9 a.m.
