Re: “Dolores hires new staff, considers hunting ban,” (Jan. 21) – that a bow hunter was caught trying to kill turkeys within town limits should preclude any debate about instituting a hunting ban.
But as the Town Board weighs the measure, it would do well to remember that Dolores’ residents aren’t the only ones threatened by a hunter’s blood lust.
Bow-hunting is among the cruelest forms of killing: Many animals are lost and their deaths are slow and agonizing – it can take weeks for some to perish.
In a perfect world, a ban would have no limits.
