The Four Corners Rifle and Pistol Club's Junior Shooters attended the Montrose All Prone Junior Small Bore Rifle Tournament on Feb. 9-10.
Seven shooters weathered the snow storm to compete against the Montrose and Grand Junction teams. Torey Duran competed in the Tyro Category (9-Under) and took first-place with an impressive score of 358-3X.
Brandon McMillian, Cody McKinney, Tia Imel, Kayleen Bowie and Caisey Duran all competed in the Sub-Junior Category (ages 10-13), which had a total of 19 competitors. Cortez swept the trophies in this division with Bowie placing third with an outstanding 480-18X. Imel placed second with a remarkable score of 485-28X and Caisey Duran took first with an impressive score of 490-31X. McMillian shot a 443-9X and McKinney shot a 453-10X, but it was not quite enough to place them in the trophy selection.
Bailey Duran competed in the Intermediate Junior Category (14-16). She had a score of 447-13X, which also was not quite enough to place her in the trophies.
In the Team Shoot, Bailey Duran, Bowie, Caisey Duran and Imel missed the third-place trophy by just two points.
