Wednesday, Dec. 12

12:19 a.m.: A woman driving a Fiat hatchback was pulled over as the vehicle was making a continuous honking sound on the 300 block of N. Broadway. She was cited for DUI alcohol but because she was cooperative and had no criminal history, she was released to a friend in lieu of jail.

5:27 p.m.: A man driving a Nissan coupe on the 200 block of W. Main St. was pulled over for expired vehicle registration. The driver also lacked a driver license and insurance. He was arrested and taken to the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.

3:14 p.m.: A vehicle backed out of a driveway on the 1300 block of N. Mildred Road and hit a vehicle parked on Dr. EE Johnson Drive.

Thursday, Dec. 13

9:12 a.m.: An officer observed a man he knew to be trespassed from City Market, 508 E. Main St., riding a bicycle across the City Market property. He was arrested for trespassing and resisting arrest.

11:57 a.m.: A woman reported fraud at Four Corners Community Bank, 343 E. Main St. She said a man who identified himself as Steve Smith approached her in the parking lot and offered her a loan. She sent the man $600 on Google Pay and gave him her Social Security number, bank account number and routing number. The case was forwarded to the detective division.

1:31 p.m.: A man was arrested on the 10 block of N. Park St. for being intoxicated in the roadway.

3:15 p.m.: A man who had just purchased a purple Buick was pulled over for lack of visible registration and was cited for driving on a revoked license, driving without insurance and driving without number plates.

1:06 p.m.: A woman left her purse in a cart at City Market, at 508 E. Main St., and it was stolen. Four days later, a City Market loss prevention associate recovered a Western Union money order for $474, which was in the woman’s purse. Another woman was on video attempting to cash the money order. An officer identified the woman believed to have stolen the purse.

Friday, Dec. 14

8:40 a.m.: A driver failed to yield at a stop sign at W. Empire St. and N. Broadway and collided with a vehicle traveling north on N. Broadway.

11:48 p.m.: An eastbound vehicle at the Walmart parking lot, at 1835 E. Main St., collided with a second vehicle.

3:13 p.m.: An animal-control officer gave a man on the 600 block of S. Ash St. a 50-pound bag of Purina dog food after observing a large dog loose in the front yard and inspecting the inside of his mobile home. The mobile home was covered with many piles of dog excrement. Surfaces inside the structure appeared to be covered in feces. Two dogs were using the dash of the vehicle to avoid contact with their own feces. The back portion of the mobile home was barricaded by debris. The officer had previously asked the man to reduce the number of dogs he kept on his property, but the man had not done so. When the officer returned to give the man the bag of dog food, he refused to let the officer inspect the mobile home.

11:25 p.m.: A man driving a white Jeep Cherokee was pulled over for expired plates on the 100 block of W. Main St. He said he purchased the vehicle in September but had not changed the registration over. He also did not have insurance. He was cited and the vehicle was towed.

Saturday, Dec. 15

1:39 p.m.: A man was arrested for DUI on the 100 block of S. Beech St. He admitted to drinking four beers at a company Christmas party at Blondie’s Trophy Room, at 45 E. Main St.

12:59 p.m.: An employee at Econolodge, at 2020 E. Main St., called to report two customers were not leaving their room after checkout. A woman in the room had an active warrant. She was taken to Montezuma County Detention Center, at 730 E. Driscoll St.

2:19 p.m.: Officers responded to a disturbance at a home on the 900 block of May Lane. An intoxicated man inside the home refused to exit, and witnesses said he may have a knife, so officers did not perform a forced entry. An incident report states follow-up will be required.

Sunday, Dec. 16

10:23 a.m.: A man who officers have deal with repeatedly was lying in the roadway with a bicycle in front of Slavens True Value, at 237 W. Main St. He was very intoxicated and belligerent. He was transported to Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St., and cited for being intoxicated in the roadway.

11:00 a.m.: A man was yelling at customers entering Walmart, at 1835 E. Main St. The man flipped off a police officer when the officer arrived at Walmart. The officer noted that the man was acting like he was on drugs. He said he was drinking last night and consumed meth recently. As the officer walked the man to a patrol vehicle, he said people were after him and they had guns. He was cited for violating a protection order that states he cannot consume drugs or alcohol and was taken to Montezuma County Detention Center, at 730 E. Driscoll St.

11:43 p.m.: A man and woman are being sought on suspicion of stealing $77.86 worth of Magic the Gathering trading cards from Walmart, 1835 E. Main St. An employee attempted to stop them as they left the store, but they got in a vehicle and left. Police have identified the couple and will attempt to issue a summons for shoplifting.

Monday, Dec. 17

9:28 a.m.: A man was arrested at Montezuma County Combined Courts, 865 N. Park St., on an active warrant.

3:02 p.m.: A man panhandling in the Walmart parking lot, at 1835 E. Main St., was arrested on several failure to appear warrants.

12:13 p.m.: A police sergeant observed a man nude from the waist down as he changed clothing in the parking lot between City Market and Front Row Seat, at 610 E. Main St. A patrol officer responded and contacted the man, who denied that he was changing. The man appeared intoxicated and he said he could change wherever he wanted because the land belongs to him. He was arrested for indecent exposure.

Wednesday, Dec. 19

5:17 p.m.: A man with an active warrant for parole violation was contacted in a 2001 Jeep Cherokee on the 1000 block of Cornett St. He told an officer he had foil in his sweatshirt pocket that he intended to use for heroin consumption. A search of the vehicle reportedly found a measurable amount of meth on a glass pipe as well as two metal straw-like pipes. He was arrested on possession of meth, possession of paraphernalia, violation of a protection order and driving without a license. His license was revoked in August 2017 for failure to pay child support.
