Ryans' Custom Products attend trade show for 17th year
Jerry and Marcie Ryan, owners of Ryans' Custom Products, attended the Awards and Recognition Association's annual trade show January 28 through Feb. 1st in Las Vegas, Nevada. The event, held at the Rio Hotel Convention Center, featured an International Awards Market with more than 350 vendors serving the needs of the recognition industry. Educational forums were offered to ARA members on such topics as engraving photographs, marketing tips, customer service training and business management strategies. The show gave the attendees the opportunity to network with vendors from all over the world and learn about emerging technology in the awards industry. This is the 17th year the Ryans have attended the ARA show. Ryans' Custom Products has been in business for over 19 years. Chamber workshop on effective hiring practices
For small business there is little room for error when it comes to hiring and retaining a great employee. The interactive workshop on "Hiring Winners" will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 27 from 9-11 a.m. at the Cortez Area Chamber of Commerce.
Have you wondered about the key to great employee hiring? Do you wish you were better equipped to distinguish those characteristics that define a great and enduring employee? Hiring decisions are some of the most important ones businesses make but few people receive training on how to make these crucial choices.
The workshop will be presented by Spencer Smith, owner of Aaron's; Chad Bischoff, manager of Associate Resources with Aarons and Shannon Carver, human resources director, Skanska's Rocky Mountain Division.

Builders Assoc. to hold
round-table discussion
Four Corners Builders Association will hold a public round-table discussion on Tuesday, Feb. 26 at 7 p.m. at First National Bank's conference room at 2258 E. Main St. The meeting will be open to questions from those that come participate, such as home loans, what type of gravel is needed to create a solid driveway, or repairs to property currently owned or that are being looked at for purchase. Dolores Chamber after hours
The Dolores Chamber's Business After Hours for February will be Thursday, Feb. 21 in the 2nd Chance Thrift Store hosted by Renew from 5-7 p.m. It will be a great opportunity to have some great food and refreshments, network and develop working relationships with many businesses and individuals.

Adopt a teacher
The Montezuma-Cortez School District is in need of school supplies. Most of the teachers have requested basic supplies like dry erase markers and erasers, paper and pencils. Some would like to expand the reading options for their students and have asked for help in obtaining books and other materials. The middle school band teacher is in need of musical instruments. The school has 20 instruments available but the teacher anticipates a class of 65 students next fall. Flutes, clarinets and trumpets are especially needed.
