Amy Lee Sloan, 89, previously of Mesa, Arizona and formerly of the Four Corners area, went home to be with the Lord on Dec. 31, 2012. Funeral services for were held Saturday, Jan. 5 at Desert View Baptist Church. Interment was held Jan. 7 at Phoenix Memorial Park. Before moving to Mesa, she resided in the Four Corners area.
Amy Lee was born on Aug. 4, 1923 in Springfield, Colo. to Frank and Miriam Millican. After losing her parents at a young age, Amy was raised by her aunt and uncle in Enid, Okla. She graduated from Enid High School in 1941. On Aug. 2, 1953 she married Leland "Ike" Sloan and moved to Medford, Okla. where they ran a store and propane business.
A kind, loving, caring "mom to all", Amy was a friendly conversationalist who was always interested in other people. Gifted with a beautiful soprano voice, she was involved in the church choir wherever she lived. Her skills in English made her excel as a secretary at Oklahoma Gas and Electric, Arizona Public Service and other companies. A lover of babies and children, she enjoyed many wonderful years with her grandchildren. A wonderful wit and a love of life to the end caused all who knew her to love her.
Amy Lee is survived by Melodie (Blake) Mitchell of Mancos, Larry (Audrey) Sloan of Chadron, Nebraska, Jennifer (Paul) Kee of Mesa, Arizona, brother LR (Mona) Millican, sister-in-law Mary Millican (all of Springfield, Colorado), ten grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and friends. Preceding her in death were her parents, beloved husband and one brother, Frank Millican, Jr.
