A man who was found dead Thursday under a bridge near the Durango Dog Park has been identified as Patrick Mulligan, who is believed to have been living as a homeless man on the banks of Lightner Creek.
La Plata County Coroner Jann Smith said she was “pretty sure” Mulligan, who was about 55 years old, died of natural causes. An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday, Smith said.
The body was found at 9:48 a.m. Thursday. Durango police said Mulligan died either Wednesday night or Thursday morning.
Police said there were no obvious signs of trauma to the body, and no foul play is suspected.
It was the third body found within two weeks in public locations around Durango.
Police this week identified the two other bodies:
Dawson W. Radau, 27, of Orlando, Florida, was found Sept. 27 near the Dog Park. Authorities believe the body had been there for about a month. An autopsy concluded Radau died by suicide.Nicole Paula Wagner, 25, of Durango died Sunday in Iris Park. Wagner was with her boyfriend and several friends when she collapsed. Police said they are investigating the circumstances around her death and have not released the identities of the individuals she was with. Police do not suspect the deaths are connected.
