Durango police have obtained an arrest warrant for a man suspected of attempting to rob three women at gunpoint.
Durango resident Shayne Ray Chavez, 38, is sought in connection with the crime, which occurred about 6:30 p.m. Aug. 22 in the east alley of the 900 block of Main Avenue.
Police are asking the public for any information that would lead to his arrest.
Chavez is described as a Hispanic male, 5 feet 6 inches tall, brown hair, brown eyes and about 160 pounds. He is known to frequent Aztec and Farmington as well as Durango.
He has several tattoos on his forearms and is considered armed and dangerous.
Video surveillance of the incident shows a man approaching the victims who were standing by a red SUV and parked motorcycles.
The public is advised not to attempt to apprehend Chavez.

Durango police used surveillance from area businesses to help identify the suspect.
