Kudos to Sens. Cory Gardner and Michael Bennet for their votes to pass the 2018 Farm Bill. I’m especially pleased by their strong support for programs that help farmers and ranchers make their land more resilient to drought and intense precipitation through improved soil health.
Conservation agriculture policies are a win-win for America, protecting our food supply and the economic viability of agricultural businesses, while improving the health of our ecosystem.
Farmers and ranchers are uniquely vulnerable to the warmer temperatures and changing weather patterns we’re seeing, but they are also uniquely positioned to mitigate the cause by building soil organic matter and sequestering atmospheric carbon naturally in healthy soil. Conservation agriculture incentives are one place where Americans can come together to support and protect what we value: clean water, clean air, healthy soil and resilient, productive land.
Thanks to Gardner and Bennet for their leadership on this important issue.
