The Region 9 Economic Development District of Southwest Colorado has announced that Peyton Heitzman and Tuggy Dunton have joined the Region 9 board of directors as representatives of two government jurisdictions.
Tuggy Dunton is the Ignacio Town Clerk and has worked for the town since 2016. She has a master’s degree in marriage and family counseling and has served for various organizations including two nonprofits (WINGS of Freedom Inc. and Four Directions Inc.) that she co-founded with her husband.
Dunton is fluent in conversational Spanish, having lived overseas for the first 15 years of her life.
Peyton Heitzman serves as the management intern with the city of Cortez, attended Fort Lewis College and is finishing a degree in public policy at the University of Colorado Denver.
Dunton and Heitzman were elected to the Region 9 board of directors at their recent July meeting.
Region 9 is a public/private partnership that promotes and coordinates economic development efforts in five Colorado counties. The Region 9 board is composed of 26 members – 17 representatives from the local governmental jurisdictions and nine members from the private sector. The Region 9 board meets quarterly.
