The Dolores Mountain Quilters Guild plans to hold its 2018 biennial quilt show from Aug. 24-25 at the Dolores Community Center.
It “promises be an exciting showcase for local quilting artistry,” Judith Swain said in a press release.
Show times are 9 a.m.-5 p.m. on Aug. 24, and 9 a.m.-4 p.m. on Aug. 25.
The show will feature more than 100 quilts, which will be judged by the public in six categories. A quilters’ boutique will offer many handmade gifts and treasures, door prizes will be drawn each hour, and raffle tickets will be for sale on our stunning king-size quilt “Navajo Serape.”
“This design is especially pertinent to our geographical and cultural area,” Swain said. “It is inspired by Native American weaving designs and has been executed in warm southwestern colors by guild members.”
Several vendors will offer fabric, patterns and notions.
Tickets are available at the door for $3 per person for 16 years and older.
Entries for the quilt show should be pre-registered by Aug. 6 and will be considered on a first-come, first-served basis. Entry registration forms are available from doloresmountainquilters.org by clicking on “Quilt Show” and emailed to [email protected]
Additional entry information is available on the website.
The Dolores Mountain Quilters Guild’s monthly gatherings focus on members’ quilting creativity, continuing quilting education for members and the community, support in the form of donated quilts to those in need, quilting creations offered to local nonprofits for fundraising, and annual cash contributions in appreciation of local service organizations.
