The Mancos Valley Chamber of Commerce is still seeking nominations for the Citizen of the Year Award. The nomination deadline is Dec. 1. However, due to the weekend, nominations will be accepted until Monday, Dec. 3. All nominations must be postmarked by Dec. 3 or hand delivered in a sealed envelope to the Visitor Center at 101 E. Bauer.
Please nominate anyone who works or lives in the Mancos Valley who has made this a better place to live. Think about a neighbor, teacher, grocery store clerk, fireman, student, nurse, hairdresser, waitress, aunt or uncle. An organization is also eligible to be nominated. The contributing member of the community can be any age. A nomination form can be e-mailed to you or you can stop by the Visitor Center to pick one up. The nomination form is also available at the Chamber of Commerce website www.mancosvalley.com. Please, call 533-7434 if you have questions.
Remember the Mancos Mob will be Saturday, Dec. 8, 10 a.m. at the Raven House Gallery, 120 W. Grand Avenue. Come down to the gallery and meet its newest addition, Raven House Roy (named after the Roy Family of Mancos). There will be door prizes, refreshments and some great deals on unique, one of a kind holiday gifts. This is your opportunity to shop locally and support the artists in the Mancos Valley. Lets mob the Raven House Gallery with cash and give them a wild and crazy business day.
As you think of shopping locally, consider the Visitor Center. The VC is having its annual holiday sale. All books, maps, childrens toys and books are marked down 20 percent. There is a collection of photos of the Southwest that are matted and ready for framing, plus books on the history and geology of the area as well as birds, wildflowers and mushrooms. Stop by and see what the VC has to offer for holiday gift giving.
