The Durango Adult Education Center Board of Directors recently announced that Elizabeth Helvey was hired as its new executive director, effective Aug. 1.
Helvey has more than 30 years of work experience in academic, private and intergovernmental sectors. She has most recently served, for six years, as a project manager for North Wind Group, an environmental, engineering, construction, technical consulting and management firm.
She has also served on the La Plata Family Center board and the Escalante Middle School Parent Organization.
