The Colorado Department of Human Services is launching a smartphone app to give customers instant mobile access to benefits, documents and tips, CDHS said in a news release.
The MyCOBenefits app, available June 10, can reduce customers’ trips to benefits offices while freeing up county service centers.
With the app, customers can quickly check their balances, status or messages in programs like SNAP food benefits, Colorado Works and other Adult Financial programs. They can also take smartphone photos of documentation and upload them for review.
“With this app, customers and county employees will have instant access to resources they want and need,” Megan Rymski, a CDHS project manager, said in the news release. “It will reduce trips to county offices and increase both the customers’ and the counties’ efficiency in maintaining eligibility.”
The MyCOBenefits app will be available on Android and iPhone operating systems, through the phone app stores. The app is available in Spanish.
MyCOBenefits allows users to easily access their benefits and manage their account. Features of the app and the programs covered include:
Instant access to EBT (Electronic Benefit Transfer) balances in SNAP, Colorado’s food assistance program.Reporting and verifying changes to income or other status in multiple benefits programs.Browsing SNAP-Ed provider information, nutritional guidelines and shopping and preparation tips.Updating eligibility documentation by taking smartphone photos and uploading via the app.Receiving notification or alerts on eligibility and benefits by text or email.Access to information on Colorado Works (TANF) and other Adult Financial programs such as Old Age Pension or Aid to the Needy Disabled.
