‘Do You Feel the Chill?’ is theme for Storytime



“Do You Feel the Chill?” is the November theme of Raising Readers Storytime at the Cortez Public Library.Storytime is held every Thursday at 10:30 a.m. for preschool-aged children. Older children are welcome to join in for the craft at 11:15 a.m. “Scarecrows and Hayrides” is the subject on Thursday, Nov. 1. “Pumpkins and Apples” will be discussed on Thursday, Nov. 8. “Turkey Day” will be presented on Thursday, Nov. 15. The library will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 22 in observance of Thanksgiving. “Advent Calendar” will wrap up the month on Thursday, Nov. 29.

Raising Readers Storytime offers songs, stories, crafts and silliness and uses the Early Childhood Literacy Initiative program.Thanks to all who participated in the Farmers Market Storytimes! We’ll be back next year.




Computer training classes



The Cortez Public Library, and the Unlimited Learning Center at 640 E. Second St., will offer computer classes in November. On Thursday, Nov. 8 at 10:30 a.m. there will be a Basic Computer Class at the Unlimited Learning Center. At 1 p.m. there will be a class on Internet Shopping at the library. On Friday, Nov. 1, the Southwest Colorado Workforce Center staff will teach a computer class on various aspects of finding a job on the Internet. On Thursday, Nov. 29 at 10:30 a.m. there will be a Basic Computer Class at the Unlimited Learning Center. At 1 p.m. at the library there will be a class called Incredibly Basic Computer Skills. All classes at the library must be signed up for ahead of time, as space is limited. Sign up by calling the library or by stopping by. MAncos Public Library

The Mancos Public Library is located at 211 W. First St.; 533-7600.




Little People Storytime



The Mancos Public Library offers Little People Storytime on Wednesdays at 10 a.m. in both English and Spanish. Children ages 3-6 will be taught songs, verses and stories in both languages with the changing of the seasons emphasized. A craft is also offered.


After-school movies on Mondays



The Mancos Public Library will offer free movie screenings for children age 8 years and up each Monday in November at 4 p.m. “The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, Witch and the Wardrobe” will be shown on Monday, Nov. 5. On Monday, Nov. 12, the library will show two episodes of “The Last Airbender.” On Monday, Nov. 19, “The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian” will screen. On Monday, Nov. 26, “The Chronicles Of Narnia: The Voyage Of The Dawn Treader” will be shown.




‘Ages and Stages’ developmental milestones for children



Casie LaMunyon will present “Ages and Stages” at the Mancos Public Library at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 7, on developmental milestones of young children ages 2 to 11, and strategies to support your child in becoming independent and responsible. Casie is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Board Certified Art Therapist with 17 years of experience. All caregivers of preschool and elementary school age children are encouraged to attend this free presentation.
