P.W. Miller was this week’s winner in the total yardage gained contest for the game between Dolores and Norwood on Friday.

Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Sanders are the proud new parents of a baby daughter born early Tuesday morning, Oct. 24. The new little miss has been named Joanna Christel and she weighed in at 7 lbs., 13 oz. Maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Art Nielson of Dolores. This is the Sanders’ second child. They also have a son, Eric.

Miss Diane Culver was guest of honor at a bridal shower held Thursday evening Oct. 19 at the First Baptist Church. She received many nice gifts. Refreshments were served by the hostesses, Mrs. Hallie Morrison and Mrs. Audrey Tycksen.

Mr. and Mrs. Earl Morris and son Charles and wife all of Nampa, Idaho, visited the Paul Butlers one day last week. The Morris’ lived on Granath Mesa in the 1930s. Earl was a town marshal in Dolores at one time.

Mr. and Mrs. Bradley Johnson and son from Navajo, Arizona were weekend guests at the home of Mrs. Johnson’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Ragland of Dolores.

The Saturday evening Pinochle Club was entertained at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Don McQuaid last Saturday. Callie Lofquist won high.

Miss Lillie Dunham has had a guest from Arroya Grande, California this past week, her sister-in-law, Mrs. Cecil Broyel.

Luther Shields stepped on a rock and twisted his hip on Thursday a week ago. At first it was thought it might be cracked but according to the doctor’s report it isn’t although it is very painful and he has been unable to work for over a week.

Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Hayes and family enjoyed dinner with Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Gray in Cortez on Monday evening.

Mr. and Mrs. Ross Thomas, Mr. and Mrs. Chuck Lee and Callie Lofquist were dinner guests at the home of Irene Lee on Sunday, Oct. 22.

Mr. and Mrs. Eric Froede and Mary Ann Flossman visited with Mr. and Mrs. Larry Pleasant and sons on Saturday evening and enjoyed viewing the slides he took while in Munich, Germany attending the Olympics.

Joy Raye Goode from Denver was in Dolores visiting with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Goode, and her brother Kenny while Kenny was home on leave two weeks ago.

The Esther Circle of the WSCS met at the home of Irene Lee on Tuesday morning.

Several Dolores residents enjoyed the Community Concert in Cortez on Thursday evening, Oct. 26.

Don and Greta McQuaid were in Farmington on Sunday afternoon.

The Friendship Community Church will be holding Revival services beginning on the first Sunday in November.

Airman Basic Steven Lente arrived by plane on Saturday morning from San Antonio, Texas to spend the weekend with his wife Melodie and baby daughter at Stoner. He returned to his base on Monday.

Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Brumley and daughter, Kathy were guests over the weekend at the home of his mother Katie Akin. Mrs. Akin had a birthday dinner on Sunday afternoon for Kathy and Jerry’s sister Mary Akin was a guest at the dinner.

Mr. and Mrs. Jewel Knuckles of Dove Creek and Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Knuckles and Carla of Cortez were afternoon visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Butler on Sunday.
