Richard Running Deer was born Oct. 16, 1939 in Colorado Springs, Colo. the son of William Jewell and Virginia (Bonds) Meyer. He passed away peacefully on Oct. 20, 2012 at Valley Inn Nursing Home in Mancos at the age of 73.
Richard was a medicine man; people came worldwide for his ceremonies. Those Richard served held him in high regard and felt a deep love for him. He, too, was a master bead worker and enjoyed spending time at home and the outdoors.
Surviving Richard are his daughter, Wendy Meyer of Claremont, Calif.; his sister, Marleah Meyer of Calgary, Alberta, Canada; his aunt, Shirley Bonds of Colorado Springs, Colo.; his niece, Robyn Thompson of Calgary, Alberta, Canada; and numerous friends. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, William and Virginia Meyer; and his partner, Cheyanne West.
Cremation will take place with no services planned.
