The Cortez Public Library and Farm Bistro will host Denver-based author Ed Sealover on May 16 for a two-hour adventure into the robust and frothy world of Colorado beers.

Sealover is the author of two books, including the nonfiction “Colorado Excursions with History, Hikes and Hops,” which was a 2017 Colorado Book Award finalist. The book is a 30-day travel guide to Colorado, taking readers each day to a historic site, one natural site and one drinking site in an attempt to capture the qualities that define the state. Destinations vary from Rocky Mountain National Park and Mesa Verde National Park to more out-of-the-way gems like the Museum of Colorado Prisons and the single block in Palisade that is home to a brewery, a distillery and two wineries. He also wrote “Mountain Brew: A Guide to Colorado’s Breweries.”

“It is a love letter to the beauty and mystery of this state, broken into a series of 10 three-day trips,” according to a promotional release from Kathy Berg, adult programmer at the Cortez Public Library.

The presentation is the final installment of the Amazing Authors 2018 Tour, a gastronomic-themed series sponsored by the Cortez Public Library. It will be held at The Farm Bistro, 34 W. Main St., from 6–8 p.m.

It will feature free samples from local breweries and appetizers from The Farm.

Sealover has worked as a newspaper reporter for 23 years and has won more than 80 awards for his work, including investigative, beat and public service reporting at The Rocky Mountain News in Denver, The Gazette in Colorado Springs and currently, the Denver Business Journal. He is a 1995 graduate of Northwestern University in Illinois, where he majored in journalism and minored in political science. He grew up in Annapolis, Maryland.

Sealover lives in Wheat Ridge with his wife, Denise, their 3½-year-old son, Lincoln, and their 2-year-old daughter, Jane.
