The Strong Schools Strong Community Bond Committee, formed to help pass 3C, has just over two weeks until the big day. Some people have already voted, ballots went out in the mail this week.

Superintendent Scott Cooper reported the question and answer session at the Ponderosa was poorly attended, mostly because of the Bronco game, also Monday night, Cooper suggests.

We will just have to wait and see how this bond does on election night. This is exciting stuff!

The Dolores High School Football team is traveling to Centauri on Saturday, a long drive for the school districts and thanks to the Valley Inn Nursing Home in Mancos and Vista Grande Nursing Home in Cortez, the boys won’t have to drive the whole way and play and drive home.

The nursing homes donated enough money to pay for hotel rooms for the boys Friday night. So they can drive up Friday, have a good night’s sleep and play well rested and not road-weary.

As always, turn to 93.3 KKDC D’Crow for radio coverage which begins Saturday at 12:45 p.m.

Mark Applequist reported that he and Sina are living in their home again, the front portion at least, after a fire destroyed the back wall of the home and did damage in portions of the attic. Remarkably, the fire did not spread inside the home and caused little damage to items inside the home. Mark said they are still working on repairs, but they are going well.

The leaves were beautiful in Dolores this week, dazzling shades of orange and yellow along the river. But they are dropping fast and wind has shown to be blowing much of the leaves off.

Recent reports of sales tax showed that Dolores is a bit up and Town Manager Ryan Mahoney hopes that Dolores won’t fall too far below what was expected this year, despite having some slow months.
