Editor:
Those who came before us had a vision of what makes a strong and healthy community. We need a safe place to live and to work, a good health care system, and a city government that represents and protects our citizens. We need an educational system that prepares our children for the world before them.
We have a wonderful, caring community. We see service organizations, clubs, veteran groups, etc. working tirelessly to provide opportunities or scholarships to folks whom otherwise could not afford them. We walk into a store and see a jar to throw in some loose change to help a family in need. We see businesses that continually give to help others. These are but a few examples of how our community pays it forward.
Rarely, if ever again, will we have this unique opportunity to benefit our children and strengthen our community. Buford Wayts favorite quote was we work in a community to make a living we give to that community to make a life. Its our time to give our children and grandchildren the same opportunities we were given to live and make their lifes contribution. Its time to pay it forward just as those who came before us did.
We cannot let this opportunity pass. We urge you to vote yes on 3B.
