Spooktacular Halloween light show happens nightly
The public is invited to view a free Spooktacular Halloween light show set to music for kids and adults alike. Enjoy the show nightly from 7 to 10:30 p.m. from now through Sunday, Nov. 4. The display is located south of Cortez at 6821 Hwy. 160/491 (next to Redburn Tire). This annual light display is done as a gift to the community.
Mancos weekend Indoor Flea Market begins
There will be an Indoor Flea Market in Mancos every Saturday and Sunday, beginning this Saturday, Oct. 20, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Indoor Flea Market will be held at the Old Hardware Store, 192 S. Main, across the bridge and just past The Absolute Bakery. Everyone is welcome to come sell, browse and buy! Spaces are available a 12-by-12 foot space is $12 for both days. Artists sought for Cultural Centers Juried Art Show
The Cortez Cultural Center hosts its 20th Annual Juried Art Show Monday, Nov. 5 through Saturday, Dec. 1. Artist applications and entry fee are due Friday, Oct. 19; applications are available at www.cortezculturalcenter.org, or can be picked up at the Cortez Cultural Center, 25 N. Pleasant View author to visit Spruce Tree Coffee House
Author Lowell F. Volk will be reading and signing copies of his new book, Trevor Lane and the Civil War, on Thursday, Oct. 25 at Spruce Tree Coffee House 318 E. Main St., Cortez, from 5 to 7 p.m. Volk is a retired software engineer and resides in Pleasant View. This is his third book in a series of five. Trevor Lane and the Civil War is about a young man from Pittsburgh, Penn., whose family has been killed. To keep him out of trouble, he is entered into the Army and joins the Pennsylvania Sixth Cavalry. Follow Trevor as he learns from the depths of war, escapes prison death and finds new friends and new beginnings. Vista Grande nursing home holds beaded bazaar
Vista Grande nursing home is holding their first ever beaded jewelry bazaar on Saturday, Nov. 3 from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the nursing home lobby. The bazaar was started by staff and aids who helped Vista Grande residents design and make pieces of jewelry and other accessories. There will be earrings, necklaces, bracelets and decorated flip flops for sale. All the proceeds will be donated to benefit the fight of Parkinsons disease.
