The middle school cross country team celebrates after their last meet. From left, back row, are Alex Fleitz, Kole Romero-Keller, Simon Kearns, Jake McKie, Jessalyn Bay-Voit, Hannah Skinner, Emma Most. In front are Bryce Baumgarten and Coach Finlay.

Mancos Cross Country had their last meet in Monte Vista on Saturday, Oct. 13. Runners came from Alamosa, Center, Lake City, Dolores, Sargeant, Rocky Ford, Bayfield, Del Norte, Pagosa Springs, and Gunnison. The course was 1.6 miles in the pouring rain and lightning.

Out of 67 girls, Emma Most finished 2nd in front of her toughest competition all year from Bayfield, Hannah Skinner was 17th, and Jessalyn Bay-Voit was 20th.

There were 92 boys running and Simon Kearns finished 10th against some super fast Alamosa runners, Kole Romero-Keller was 45th, and Jake McKie was 60th.

Both races were held in the rain, but the rain delay before the boys race made it difficult for runners to stay warm.

Well done, middle school cross country. Thanks for a great season and for all your hard work!
