The Mesa Verde Back Country Horsemen will host its Annual Poker Ride on Saturday, May 5, at the Sage Hen area north of McPhee Reservoir.

Riders will collect a card for their poker hand at seven marked stations along the trail, treasurer Ted Saunders said in a newsletter. Cost is $20 per seven-card hand and $5 for each additional hand. Poker hands start selling at 8 a.m., and all riders will be out on the trail by 10 a.m. Prizes are awarded to the best hands.

The local “Line Camp” will provide lunch for a fee at the trailhead.

No dogs or loose horses are allowed on the trail, and children 13 and under must be accompanied by an adult.

In case of inclement weather, the “rain day” will be May 19.
