Indoor flea market
The Friday and Saturday, Oct. 12 and 13, there will be another indoor flea market at the Mancos Valley Hardware store. The cost is $10 per table for both days and will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Call 560-0203 for more information.
Collecting candy wrappers
Mancos Girl Scout Troop 7226 is upcycling all types of candy packages and foil drink pouches this October, for a TerraCycle project to benefit Mancos RE-6 School District. Please save the packaging and wrappers to be collected via the Mancos Mancos Public Library. We wish to thank all the local business for their assistance last April. Yoga Wednesdays at Kaleidoscope
Community yoga with Amy Hartline is at 5:30 to 6:30. The fee is $5.
Gentle yoga basics with Keneen is at 9 a.m. to 10:15. Yoga all levels with Keneen is at 10:30 a.m. to noon. The first class is free and drop ins are $12.
Auxiliary has bake sale
The VFW Ladies Auxiliary will have a bake sale on Oct. 20 at the VFW Post 5231 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The proceeds will go to cancer aid and research.
Bilingual storytime at Mancos Library
The Mancos Public Library, located at 211 W. First St, is now offering Little People Storytime on Wednesdays at 10 a.m. in both English and Spanish. Children ages 3-6 will be taught songs, verses and stories in both languages with the changing of the seasons emphasized. A craft is also offered. Free! Halloween carnival at VFW
The Mancos Valley Lions Club will hold their annual Halloween Carnival at the VFW Hall on Grand Avenue on Saturday, Oct. 27, 2012, from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

Teen writing group meets on Wednesdays
Local writer Suzanne Strazza in partnership with the Mancos Public Library, will be leading a writers group for teens ages 13-19. This group will meet at the Mancos Public Library, located at 211 W. First St., every Wednesday from 5:15 to 6:15 p.m. No prior writing experience is needed. There will be no homework or required writing for this class; it is merely to explore ideas and how to get them onto paper. For more information, please call MPL at 533-7600.
Library has outdoor adventure program
The Mancos Public Library presents Outdoor Adventures at the Mancos Public Library, a no child left inside, place-based, experiential education inspired after-school program. This program has been developed by a team of educators, biologists, artists,outdoor recreation specialists, and librarians who believe kids need an opportunity to explore, build, hike, create and work together in a kid centered community in the outdoors. Although supervised by adults, the activities will be derived by the interests and passions of the kids. Children ages 9-12 are encouraged to enroll. Each child must be able to walk/hike two miles over mildly rough terrain in all weather. A healthy snack will be provided. The cost is $20 for the entire length of the program and scholarships are available. From 3:45 to 5:30 p.m. each Tuesday and Thursday, kids will get together. (Schedule follows the Mancos school district calendar.) The first session will be on Thursday, Oct. 4. Teen Computer Club at Mancos library
The first Wednesday of each month at 5 to 6:30 p.m. teens will meet in the Community Meeting Room at the Mancos Public Library to work on various computer projects. All meetings will have hands on experience with digital devices, disassemble, build, etc. At times we will have regional computer geeks visit.
