Montezuma County seeks to hire Social Services director, other staff

Montezuma County is seeking to fill several positions in various departments.

Montezuma County departments have several job openings.

Three full-time positions are being advertised, as well as part-time administrative jobs.

The county is seeking a Social Services director, after the sudden resignation of Josiah Forkner.

The position oversees the delivery of federal, state and local social services programs. Responsibilities include planning, developing, organizing and implementing social service programs and exercising administrative direction and management of staff within the Social Services Department. Requirements are a bachelor’s degree in social/behavioral science, business or public administration or related field that has included coursework in social services. A master’s degree is preferred. Five or more years’ experience in social services or a related field is required. The salary is $70,000 to $80,000 per year.

Social Services is also seeking a full-time desk clerk, and the planning department is seeking a part-time administrative assistant.

The county is advertising for a new Colorado State University Extension office director to replace current director Tom Hooten.

The director is responsible for managing the Extension Office department budget for the county and supervising the Extension Office staff. The director also oversees the 4-H Club program and manages agriculture programs. A bachelor’s degree is required, and a master’s degree is preferred. One degree must have been conferred in agriculture, education, youth development, natural resources, human development, social or behavioral sciences or closely related field.

Montezuma County Emergency Manager Paul Hollar has resigned to take a job in North Carolina. The county commissioners have since reduced the position from full-time to part-time because of budget cuts.

The job involves a variety of professional and administrative duties related to whole-community planning, preparedness, organizing, implementing and coordinating of programs and activities associated with emergency management operations.

The Montezuma County Health Department is seeking a full-time registered nurse for the Nurse Family Partnership program. The program delivers education and support to first-time parents using an evidence-based model.
