The Cortez Recreation Center has been an asset to the entire area since its opening many years ago. It hosts not only local residents but people visiting from out of town. It shows that our communities value the health and well-being of their citizens.
If people think that it only benefits a few, stop by when youth basketball is in session or when the gym is filled with Silver Sneaker participants. Try getting a lap lane in the pool or talk to the swim clubs that practice at the pool on a regular basis. There are times when the upstairs work-out area is being utilized to the maximum.
The city of Cortez has made every effort to work out a budget that allows the rec center to continue to provide the services while decreasing the sales tax. Please vote to continue the support of this asset to our community.
