Town Manager Irvin Frazier said that Dove Creek may need a new name. “We’re going to call it Antennaville,” he said.

Now, Atmos Energy wants to put up an antenna, but this one isn’t quite as tall as the one Verizon recently put up north of Dove Creek. Atmos is requesting permission to put up a remote sensor that is only about a foot tall, Frazier said. The company is apparently looking for a location near the center of town. T-Mobile recently put up an antenna on top of Frazier’s Elevator and Empire Electric has approached the county about installing one on Empire’s property east of Town.

Representatives from Caldera Mineral Resources made a presentation recently about their company’s values and intentions to the community in an effort to be as transparent as possible regarding the plan to re-open the Camp Bird Mine. “Our mission is to be a regional leader in the discovery, extraction and processing of precious, critical and strategic metals. Critical to our mission is operation at the highest level of safety and environmental stewardship.”

The Camp Bird mine has been offline for several decades, and some of the infrastructure is in good shape while other parts aren’t. The company is hoping permits will come in this week to begin restoration

True the Vote, a self-described nonpartisan election integrity organization, has published a list announcing that 10 Colorado counties, including Ouray County, have a greater voter registration count than residents. The organization reached its conclusion by comparing the 2010 US Census results against the voter registration rolls. It claims that because of this discrepancy, the counties are in violation of the 1993 National Voter Registration Act.
