Pending conclusion to the Mueller investigation, why hasn’t the Republican Congress at least censured President Donald Trump for failing to enforce the Russian sanctions that he signed into law?
As commander in chief, it is his duty to lead a vigorous response to the Russian cyber-interference in our 2016 election. The spineless complicity of Rep. Paul Ryan and Sen. Mitch McConnell support Trump’s interest in maintaining the Russian cyber-intrusion as a factor, together with gerrymandering and voter suppression, to help Republicans in the 2018 election.
He has eviscerated the Affordable Care Act, tossed Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program into limbo, slandered immigrants, cut regulations that protect Americans’ health and safety, trashed our intelligence agencies, embraced Breitbart bigotry and recruited Fox News as his public relations firm.
Trump’s thoughtless, isolationist approach to foreign affairs has weakened our claim to world leadership. To the dismay of the major world powers, he has withdrawn the U.S. from the Paris Climate Agreement, stalled the Iran Nuclear Deal and scrapped the Trans-Pacific Partnership, which gives China unrivaled economic advantages in the Pacific.
His threats to destroy North Korea drove the two Koreas to enter an all-Korean team in the Olympics. His tepid support of NATO has emboldened Russian President Vladimir Putin in his ambition to restore the Soviet empire.
Trump expresses admiration for totalitarian dictators, from mafia boss Putin to the boys in Egypt, Turkey, Poland and the butcher of the Philippines. Like all despots, Trump demands loyalty and obedience, but prefers adoration.
This tweeter addict, with the attention span of a grasshopper and the integrity of the common flea, is doing damage to our republic.
