Mancos walked away from the annual Tri-State Firemens Convention in Dolores with the sweepstakes trophy. Several members of the Mancos Fire Department recently attended the convention, which is the event that Mancos hosted in 2010. Those in attendance were Ray Aspromonte, Natasha Aspromonte, Rick Spencer, Jeremy Dennison, Ed Martinez, Kolton Miller, Darrell Buchanan, Gene Smith, Lyle Cox, and Tony Aspromonte.
The event consists of two days, Friday and Saturday, with half day of training and half day of competition each day. Training included the latest techniques of auto extrication for todays hybrid vehicles, and 10 deadly sins on the fire ground. Members of Mancos Fire Dept. presented a class called Large Fire-Small Department The Weber Fire thru our eyes. One class was canceled due to the strain the Hollywood/Gallery fire put on Dolores water system. Tony Aspromonte, Ray Aspromonte, Natasha Aspromonte, Rick Spencer, Kolton Miller, and Darrell Buchanan were out all night Thursday assisting and returning the favor to Dolores Fire for their help on the Weber Fire.
