Tuesday, Jan. 30
4 p.m.: A man was issued a summons at Dolores High School, 1301 Central Ave., Dolores, on suspicion of harassment after a juvenile reported that he had yelled profanities at him, pushed him and followed him around the school after the juvenile threw a water bottle and a snowball at some other students to get their attention. The man reportedly had told the juvenile he was bullying other children and asked to speak to his coach, who reported the incident to the high school principal. Responding deputies determined the juvenile did not appear to be acting maliciously when he threw the items.
4:53 p.m.: A woman was arrested at the Montezuma County Sheriff’s Office, 730 E. Driscoll St., on suspicion of harassment and domestic violence after a deputy reported that she shoved her boyfriend in the parking lot.
Wednesday, Jan. 31
2:27 p.m.: Deputies responded to a report of an abandoned vehicle in the 800 block of U.S. Highway 160. A vehicle had been parked on the side of the road for about a week and had apparently been damaged by someone trying to pry its door open during that time. The vehicle was towed to the Montezuma County Sheriff’s Office impound lot.
6:09 p.m.: A woman was stopped in the 2000 block of U.S. Highway 160 after a deputy reportedly noticed she was driving well under the posted speed limit and impeding traffic. The woman’s vehicle also reportedly had expired tags and a license plate belonging to a different vehicle. The woman reportedly told the deputy she was on her way to have the vehicle repossessed, and that she had no insurance. The deputy turned over the investigation to an agent from the Bureau of Indian Affairs.
Thursday, Feb. 1
12:19 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 1500 block of South Broadway, Cortez, on a Florida warrant issued in 1998 for two counts of felony battery on a law enforcement officer. The vehicle in which he was a passenger was initially pulled over for weaving and driving with obstructed vision. The driver was issued a written warning.
12:30 p.m.: Deputies responded to a report of a traffic accident outside Dolores State Bank, 101 S. Sixth St., Dolores. A man claimed that another man had hit his truck while backing out of the bank’s parking lot, causing severe damage, but the other driver said he was not aware he had hit anything. Responding deputies saw a small amount of paint on the second driver’s rear bumper that could have been a match for the truck, but they did not issue a citation. No injuries were reported in the crash.
1:39 p.m.: A woman was arrested in the 24000 block of County Road F.5 on suspicion of violating a protection order after a man asked that her boyfriend be trespassed from his house. The man said the boyfriend damaged a door while he and the woman stayed in his house. Deputies found that there was a protection order prohibiting the woman and her boyfriend from contact with each other. Her boyfriend left the house at the deputies’ orders, and the man who reported the incident did not press charges for property damage.
4:18 p.m.: A man was issued a summons in the 100 block of North 14th Street, Dolores, on suspicion of driving under restraint after he was pulled over for reportedly driving 19 mph in a 15 mph school zone. He was given a verbal warning for the speed violation.
Friday, Feb. 2
11:43 a.m.: Deputies responded to a report of a missing person last seen near the 15000 block of County Road CC. A woman reported she had dropped off her fiancé for a hike in Ruin Canyon on Wednesday and had not seen him since. He reportedly had no food, water or cell phone with him and he suffered from a heart condition. Montezuma County Search and Rescue personnel, along with deputies on horseback, responded to the area, but just as they were beginning their search, the woman called and said her fiancé had returned home. He reportedly told deputies he had gotten lost in the canyon and “almost froze,” but managed to find his way back.
12:47 p.m.: Deputies responded to a report of an injured deer in the 27000 block of County Road N. A deputy killed the deer with one shot to the head.
2:01 p.m.: Deputies responded to a report of a traffic accident in the 27000 block of Colorado Highway 184. Three people were reportedly ejected from a vehicle that went off the road, and one female passenger complained of severe pain. The male driver, who apparently sustained injuries to the neck and back, reportedly told deputies he thought he must have fallen asleep at the wheel because he could not remember the crash. A marijuana pipe was found near the vehicle, and there was reportedly a strong smell of marijuana around the driver. All the vehicle’s occupants were transported to Southwest Memorial Hospital for treatment.
4:40 p.m.: A woman was served with a warrant for failure to appear at Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.
8:42 p.m.: A man turned himself in at Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St., and was arrested on a warrant.
Sunday, Feb. 4
9:02 a.m.: Deputies responded to a report of a traffic accident in the 27000 block of County Road M. A man reported he had fallen asleep in the passengers’ seat while he and a friend were driving back from the Snowdown festival in Durango, and when he woke up at his mother’s house, the friend told him they had crashed and his truck was wrecked. The man reportedly had large cuts on his head and shin, but refused medical attention. Deputies eventually found his truck and the driver in Cortez. The driver reportedly appeared intoxicated and said he knew he was too drunk to be driving. Deputies turned the DUI investigation over to Colorado State Patrol troopers.
12:12 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 800 block of West Seventh Street on a Dolores County warrant for failure to appear on a DUI charge, and on suspicion of driving under restraint after he was pulled over for driving with an obscured license plate.
Monday, Feb. 5
1:04 a.m.: A man was arrested in the 19000 block of U.S. Highway 491 on suspicion of DUI and possession of drug paraphernalia after deputies responded to a report that his car was running in a residential driveway in Lewis where he did not have permission to park. When contacted by deputies, the man reportedly showed signs of being under the influence of a drug. A small glass container of cocaine, a broken pipe containing meth residue, several empty syringes and one syringe loaded with an unidentified substance were found in the man’s pockets.
2:10 p.m.: A man was arrested on two warrants at Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.

8:16 p.m.: A man was served with two warrants at the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.
Wednesday, Feb. 7
12:57 a.m.: A woman was served with a warrant at the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.
