Mesa Verde National Park staff will teach guests about the winter adaptations of plants and animals in the Four Corners region during a free guided hike on Wednesday, Feb. 21.

Camp guests will be invited to join hiking guides from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. as they explore the amazing ways animals and plants survive in the cold winter environment, while examining the winter habitats of Morefield Campground. The guided hike is free, but advance sign-up is required, and there is a limit of 20 people. Children should be at least 7 years old to join the hike. Participants will meet at the Morefield Village parking lot at Morefield Campground, and then explore the hillsides around the campground. Participants should be prepared to be outdoors for two to three hours. Extra layers of clothing and water are encouraged.

To sign up, find out about weather conditions and get more information on the hike, call the Chapin Mesa Archeological Museum at 970-529-4631. The Morefield Campground is located 4 miles from the park entrance. The park entrance fee is $15.
