Concerning Colin Kincades letter, A cancer deep within our nations marrow, Aug. 21: I hear your pain, Colin. And no, the answer is not red or blue; and yes, it is definitely not just a gun thing; and yes, it is a cancer deep within our nations marrow. However, it is more than just our nation; it is in the marrow of this whole earth.
Sometimes hearing or reading the news can seem so overwhelming, but I can assure you, Colin, that none of this is a surprise to God.
Many in your generation are now desperately searching for the truth and recognizing that it is not in the glib politically correct whitewashed answers we are taught by leaders, the news media, schools, or the so-called enlightened quasi-scientists of today.
Our actions (behavior) support (follow) our beliefs. Therefore, if we believe there is no God, we have no accountability and can become gods unto ourselves. These sociopaths, as you called them, are only acting that out. If we believe that this world, universe, creation all developed by accident, then there is no such thing as morality, and we need not feel sorry for whatever harm we may bring. If we believe that this short earthly life is all we have and there is no heaven or hell, then it becomes a stick it to the next guy survival of the fittest kind of life. Those are the very behaviors that you are questioning and therefore the purpose of your letter.
The truth is, we are created in Gods image and responsible to this life-giving, all-loving, all-knowing, all-powerful, all-righteous, very personal God who seeks a relationship with us. God made you and loves you. When we reject God, (which we all have done) he loves us so much that he sent his son, Jesus, to take the punishment we deserve (to justify his all-righteous morality) so that we can repent and once more be in relationship with him. Search for the truth in his word, the Bible, and find a true Bible-believing church.
