Butler Corner to burn slash piles north of Dolores

The Butler Corner Nature Center and FireWise of Southwest Colorado plan to burn slash piles at the Nature Center on Granath Mesa north of Dolores at 20503 Road 31 and in May Canyon at 30327 Road V.6 during in the next few weeks.

The slash piles are a result of forest fuels mitigation that took place in July 2017. Ignition will take place during daylight hours with snow cover and will be closely monitored.

The burning crews will consist of Butler Nature Center volunteers supervised by Short Forestry LLC. The burning may start as soon as Feb. 12 and take two to four days, depending on weather.
