The La Plata County Extension Office sponsors a course for restaurant food service workers, 5 to 9 p.m. at the fairgrounds extension building, 2500 Main Ave. Basic requirements for safe food handling and can fulfill requirements for Cottage Food Tier 1 producers. ServSafe food safety training, developed by the National Restaurant Association, will be held April 17 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and April 18 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the La Plata County Fairgrounds Extension building, 2500 Main Ave. After completing the test with 75 percent or higher, participants will receive a ServSafe certificate, valid for five years.
