It is hard to understand how folks can misinterpret the most simple statements in the Constitution. There are a lot of people that have the whole system turned around. They seem to believe that government is in possession of all rights and only passes on the rights to the people that it deems necessary. It is actually the other way around. The people in this republic possess all God-given rights and only give to our government, via the Constitution, the rights necessary for it to function.
The Second Amendment is one of the most widely misinterpreted statements in the constitution. It does not give the right to bear arms to anyone. Government cannot give a right it does not have. Nowhere in the Constitution have the people given to government the right to say who may keep and bear arms. That right belongs solely to the people. The Second Amendment was written only to remind government to keep its hands off the right of the people to keep and bear arms. It does not say the right of the militia or the right of the police, it says the right of the people and I believe anyone who says they do not understand that is a fraud.
