Even the deputy drove right on by

I wanted to take a moment to thank the great folks of Montezuma County, including the wonderful Montezuma County sheriff deputies for their kind display of humanity last Saturday evening when my two teenage daughters’ car broke down on County Road M. Unfortunately, we live several miles south of Cortez, so it took us a while to come to their rescue. In the meantime, none of the 20 cars that passed them with local plates bothered to stop and check on them or offer to help in any way.

The county sheriff deputy who passed, slowed down and drove right on by, and the local residents sat in their homes watching and not one person approached and asked to help. The only person who offered to help was an older gentleman with Utah plates who stopped.

It is a great comfort to me to know that the community that I have raised my children in will be looking after them and going that extra mile to give a helping hand when needed. Thank you, Montezuma County.
