The town of Rico would like to announce the beginning of construction on a new treated water source and delivery pipeline to the town. The ground breaking held on June 18, 2012 at the future water treatment-building site.
For many reasons the town of Rico has been investigating a new water source for the town. Starting in 1996, the towns engineering consult and manager have been diligently working towards developing a new, reliable drinking water source. The project came together in 2011, when funds were secured and the project design was in compliance with State regulations. The project will cost about $1.3 million. The construction project was awarded to BWR Constructors, Inc. located in Cortez. BWR has a construction completion date of October 31, 2012.
Congratulations to the town of Rico for breaking ground on the new treatment facility and pipeline. The results can only be positive for the town and its community. Travelers should expect potential minor delays along Highway 145 north of Rico for the duration of the project.
